Every amplifier we make is handmade to order right here in Houston, Texas.
From 8-watt combos to 200-watt bass heads, we make amps for all players and situations.
All custom amp builds require a 1/3rd deposit and a build time of at least 6 months.
Every Steamboat amplifier comes with a lifetime warranty.

The Tug Boat is an all tube, Class A 8-watt combo suitable for the bedroom, on stage, or in the studio. The Tug Boat’s circuitry minimizes component count between your guitar pickups and the loudspeaker, allowing you to maximize the character of your individual guitars and bring out subtle differences that may be lost in otherwise overly complicated amplifiers.
Despite itโs small size, the Tug Boat pulls a heavy load. This combo amplifier is loud enough to play on the stage, elegant enough for the studio, and still manageable in the bedroom. 8 watts of Class A tube power are delivered into a 10โณ speaker demonstrating the best of discrete, analog, and point-to-point circuitry.
The single power tube is also interchangeable, with NO bias adjustment. 6L6, EL34, KT66, KT77, KT88, 6550 and 5881 tubes all work wonderfully in this amplifier. We ship the amp with a single KT77 and a single 12AX7 and leave the rest up to you! Each combination yields rich harmonic character from American-style sweet cleans to barky, British distortion.
The Tug Boat features a three-step attenuator for scaling your volume to the room you are playing. At the lowest setting (-21db) you will be able to play all night without disturbing anyone in the house! At full power you will be able to perform at nearly any small to medium size stage.
The Tug Boat comes stock with a Jensen Electric Lightning 10โณ speaker, but many more options are available, including a 12โณ upgrade.

The Original Steamboat Amp! Two 12AX7 pre amp tubes and two EL84 power tubes create a classic, vintage sound that takes the best elements from many legendary amplifiers. Enjoy extra power tube breakup with our 18-watt version or more headroom with the 50-watt version.
The Steamboat Classic amp is an homage to the great guitar amps of the 60s and 70s no matter how you build it. From American style cleans to British bite and fuzz, our a la carte style Classic will satisfy a multitude of tones.
Hi and Lo impedance inputs allow you to best match your instrument to the first pre amp stage. Hi impedance is best for plugging your guitar straight in, while the Lo input is better suited for active electronics, or the lower impedance output of a FX board.
The three-way voicing switch gives you a neutral setting, a bright boost or a bass boost. The bright boost will cut through the mix and give you an excellent lead tone, while the bass boost is great for not only the bass guitar, but beefing up a single coil pickup too.
The Gain and Tone controls interact together, the circuit is a modified version of the classic 5E3 amp. The lower the Volume is set, the more treble you can coax out of the tone control. When the Tone control is turned down you engage a low pass filter between pre amp stages.
Our Volume circuit is known as a Post-PI Master Volume. This type of Volume control is the most transparent volume circuit available without going into specialty circuits like power scaling or post-output transformer attenuators (See Tug Boat combo Amp). From 0-10 you should expect a very consistent tone out of your amplifier, with power stage break up starting around 2 oโclock.
On the back panel we have 4, 8, and 16 ohm outputs for impedance matching to your favorite speaker cabinet. On 50-watt models we include a quick-read bias bank, allowing you to easily monitor the current flow in your power tubes with any multi-meter.
Many upgrades are available for the Steamboat Classic. A Fast/Slow rectifier upgrade allows the player to choose between Solid State or Tube rectification, giving you a Faster or Slower attack. A Full/Half Power option is available to cut your output power in half. Reverb, Tremolo, and additional pre-amp channels are also available, but will increase the overall size of the amplifier.

When you need to absolutely LEVEL audiences, only the Steamroller will do!
Not only does the Steamroller have tremendous output, this amp is extremely versatile. Available in 100 or 200-watt configurations, this model is perfect for anything from bass guitars and lap steels to grinding, fuzzy, high gain guitars.
The Steamroller 100 accepts any combination of EL34, 6L6, KT66, KT77, and KT88 power tubes. The Steamroller 200 comes equipped with four KT120 tubes.
The Steamroller is our ultimate homage to classic, all tube bass amps. This circuit has been distilled from several all time greats including the B15, SVT, Major, and Overdrive Special amps, but with modern improvements like better volume control, more power supply filtering, and an easy-to-adjust bias system.
The front end of the Steamroller features standard 1/4โณ inputs, one for single stage input, and one for parallel input stages. The parallel option is fatter and adds gain, while also having a slight noise reduction due to common mode rejection. GAIN and classic three-band EQ lets you dial in a huge range of tones. Each frequency band has its own boost; a low end gain boost, a high pass filter, a mid boost and a low pass filter. Every combination of switch settings will yield a unique EQ curve allowing you to dial in a rich, harmonic character suited to your playing style.
The Steamroller utilizes three 12AX7s and one 12AT7 in the pre amp, and 4-6 power tubes depending on the output configuration. The 200-watt version uses the newly designed KT120 power tubes โ these extra large tubes are industrial strength and should last for many, many years before requiring replacement.
